1 October 2016 - Tokyo Walking Tour - Japan Vacation Part 4

Jessey and Natalie arrived on friday completing my odd group of travel companions. Zach decided (I agreed) that it would be a good idea to take a walking tour of favorite sites in the metro. It is a great way to get over jet lag a little bit faster. This is technically the first time in nearly 15 years that Zach, David, Jessey, and I have all been in the same place at the same time (and it is likely to be the last). Special mention goes to 2008 when a group of us did a Skype video chat with Zach.

First, we visited the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building. This place can be accessed by a short walk from Shinjuku station. The attraction is that this view from the 45th floor is free!

Next, we took a short train ride to Harajuku station and walked to the Meiji Jengu shrine, one of the largest shrines in Tokyo.

Then, we walked down to the famous Shibuya Crossing. This is that location featured in almost every movie and music video related to Japan. In recent memory I recall seeing it featured in the opening scenes of Resident Evil: Afterlife (Zombie patient zero) and in DJ Tiesto + Sneaky Sound System's song "I Will Be Here".

Following that, we took a brief walk along the Tokyo Palace moat.

Then we made a short visit to Asakusa, looks different at night

Finally, we ended the day at Sunshine city. Hamburger!
